Dr. Chastain grew up in rural central Illinois and completed her undergraduate degree at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. During college, she competed in both cross country and track and field. Dr. Chastain went to veterinary school at the University of Illinois, where she enjoyed volunteering at the wildlife medical clinic.

Dr. Chastain loves spending time with her family — whether that be enjoying her husband’s cooking, hiking with her English Springer Spaniel named Piper, or reading and crafting in the company of her four cats (Mira, Bagheera, Jack, and Hu).
